OSCAR WINNER FOR A REASON: If you evaluate this film for its storytelling, it is a brilliant piece of cinematic art. There is no question of this. It is ingeniously paced, superbly scripted and acted, and each scene captures the fullness of the moment. Yes, the storyline is not new - drugs gone bad has been done a few times. I don't believe this is the main driver. Here it is how the Cohen brothers introduce, develop and, as a result, draw us into the various characters - paradoxically, their humaness, their interconnectedness and even the element of chance. Please note: The level of violence in this film is extreme. I found some parts disturbing.
